Description

A god for those who consume and yearn to be consumed in turn, “A consumption, returned” is the deity of choice for anyone who wishes to feel a bright, hot, and inescapable passion. The “consumption” is prayed to by those in need of more, more, and more— its ears hear prayers from whom nothing but the most crushing of conquests and the most smothering of love affairs will do.

This god is a god for when the mortal heart is simply too small, too weak, too insufficient to hold what excesses and deluge the world demands of it. It is the patron of undeniable victories and of bellowed confessions; a patron for those who refuse to go quietly into the night.

Those devoted to “the mutual” have never led a dull day in their lives— pushing and toiling and burning with the kindling provided by their interminable appetites, consequences be damned. It is the favored patron of the tireless, the devoted, the unswayed.

“A consumption, returned” is one of the four major deities on the Coil because it is the battery on which life itself is run. Without “the consumption”’s passion pushing hearts to the brink, there are no wars racing towards their ends, no battles feverishly fought to the last, no lovers suffering gladly for an echoed affection.

As a follower of the Consumption, consider the ideals on the A consumption, returned’s Ideals table as alternatives to those suggested for your background.
