Description

Prayers to “the silk and the stutter” are often whispered rather than shouted. This is the god of hushed tones and false faces— of second lives and secluded glades. Those praying to the “hangman’s tie” do so in want of discretion, in their desire to hold their secrets away from the prying eyes of the outside world. Make no mistake, not all of the silk’s obfuscation is so dreary and serious. For even the many faces that actors wear on stage and the white lies a child may blurt out belong among the tapestry of “the silk of many shades”.

As a follower of the silk, consider the ideals on the Silk and the stutter's Ideals table as alternatives to those suggested for your background.

d6 Ideal
1 Devotion. My devotion to my god is more important to me than what they stand for.
2 Pragmatism. The ends justify the means; I do whatever it takes to win.
3 Duplicity. I lie when it suits me, which makes things so much easier.
4 Secrecy. All deception requires secrecy, but not all secrets are meant to deceive.
5 Power. The best thing about knowing a secret is getting to use it against everyone else.
6 Adaptability. Plans change, circumstances go awry. I must bend in response to changes, not break.
